No doubt. The historical moment lends itself to apocalyptic thinking and imagery. Increasingly, the pounding hoof beats of the Four Horseman sound louder and closer, more real than allegorical.
Militarism, so thoroughly embraced, embedded and normalized permeates our consciousness, robs us of resources, devastates the climate and threatens our future. That the Doomsday Clock (ticking) stands seconds to midnight, marks the realistic fears (coupled with catastrophic climate change) that we are almost guaranteed a pending holocaust. The endless planetary wars and their victim’s echoing cries of suffering resound even as new killing technologies are developed and embraced which enable this untold suffering.
Clearly, we are in existential crisis. What is our response? To create a new paradigm, with four new horseman who ride to affirm Love, Truth, Life and Health. Our very survival as a species demands we evolve.
This year's Kateri Peace Conference, our speakers and our community gathered will look clearly at the present crisis yet also to the future and explore realistic and hopeful solutions when implemented. As always, we will come together as a meeting bonded by empathy and love, as a community concerned with planetary well being, cutting through obstacles and eager to find ways to move forward, flying banners of: peace, sustainability, hope and futurity!
